ABOUT SailScore

​What?

Sailscore is a simple app for people who need to run small racing series and produce accurate results quickly at the end of a hard day on the water and without having to lug around a PC to do so. 

​​Why?

Part of my life revolves around the Signet Class Owner's Association for which I've been the Sailing Secretary. When we have our open meetings I want to be able to do the results quickly while the rest of the fleet get changed and chat and I don't want to take forever at it. I use the popular Sailwave software for documenting all our series but I needed something "cut down" to use on the day that I could use on my phone or tablet. So I started to work on Sailscore, picking a set of features that would keep it simple but functional enough to be useful to me. 

​How?
I'm a big Android fan so naturally that was my target platform (sorry iPhone users, I have no plans there right now but if you fancy porting it to the iPhone let's talk). The Android tools are free and easy to set up so I downloaded it, bought a book and got started.

Sailwave

 

Just to be clear this isn't intended to compete with the excellent Sailwave. It's more like a companion to it as you can export the data from SailScore into Sailwave or any other tool that accepts .csv formatted data. If anyone wants to collaborate please get in touch and we can explore possibilities.
